OneOffSoftware

OneOffSoftware is a company I own. I use this company as my brand from which to contract. I have built several pieces of software under this name.

I have completed an application for a company which runs studies using eye tracking hardware to be able to see where study participants are looking while being shown a video. This information can be very valuable to advertisement producers so they can make sure their audience is actually looking where they intend them to.

The system they had before they asked me to build this application was very primitive and labor intensive. The application I built for them included participant management allow with a flexible datastore to allow different data about these participants to be stored per client or project. It also contained a generic interface to which many types of hardware controllers could interface allowing new eye trackers and other biometric devices to be added using XML config and a stand alone assembly. The application would manage the lifecycle of the devices while showing a participant a video.

On completion of a study it could replay the video and show where all participants were looking. The output could be color coded and sorted based on the participant data. The application was capable of running multiple participants at the same time accross a network view either individual or a central display. As an addition to this application I added the ability to monitor areas of interest. This reported statistics for the particular areas within a video that were of importance to a client.

My input to this company prior to starting the application had a great impact on what they asked me to build. Instead of a few predefined participant fields to contain data, I suggested the flexible datastore. I also built the replay and area's of interest section of my software so it could be run in a self contained distributable package. This is something the company now proposes to charge extra for as an add on to their core product.

The company was recently featured in a local paper and the demonstration they gave to the reporter was managed by my software. Many of the features presented in the article were those of my software including features I had suggested.
